Course Delivery

Outline

 The hospitality industry is the world’s largest employer and needs people with strong practical skills, hands-on experience and excellent leadership capability. Sheffield’s hospitality course prepares students for exciting and diverse opportunities during and after study. The course will provide students with industry relevant technical skills coupled with employability skills such as operations, problem-solving, communication, leadership and team-work, all these will be learned and experienced while undertaking the study and work program.

Course Title:  Level 5 Certificate in Hospitality

 Visa: Student Visa (Provided by Sheffield Academy)

Work placement

  • The course requires one year (1) simultaneous work experience in hospitality industry.
  • Work placement is part of the school curriculum, students who are placed for work get remunerated. 
  • There is no fixed wage rate for all, different hotels pay differently. 
  • Students do not have the option of choosing which hotel they go to, as they are placed as soon as vacancy becomes available at a placement partner hotels and some hotels may interview and select the students they want. 
  • The situation in KL is:  the better the brand, the lower the salary.  However, work experience at the better hotels will pay off in the long term in the student's career, including sourcing a good entry level position in the industry.  

 Covered Departments

Hotel Departments/Exposures:

  • Front Office
  • Food and Beverage
  • Kitchen (min. of 1,200 hours exposure for Culinary students)
  •  Concierge
  • Housekeeping

 Course Duration

 One (1) Year

  • School Hours – 1 day per week
  • Work Hours   – 10 to 11 hours a day, 6 days a week

ABOUT MANILA INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATED LEARNING CENTER

(MIILC) 

MIILC is an internship auxiliary service provider that links higher education institutions (HEIs) with learning institutions and internship sites outside of the Philippines.
