This course is designed to provide introductory knowledge of Korean history, culture, and basic Korean language. The course will focus on historical and cultural aspects of Korea and the influence of the early history of Korea on present day Korea. We
will look at the people, customs, and cultural values in everyday life, patterns of behaviors, family structure, and food of Korea.
Weekly lectures including assigned readings will be loaded to Course Content. Also included is class activities; discussion topics, questions/language exercises, and assignments not only to have the sense of a class community but to achieve new insights and
a more solid understanding of the materials presented in the course.
As an evaluation tool, mid-term exam and one proctored finalexam. In addition, submission of one essay about a particular topic of your choice, related to any of the materials covered.
The class week will run from Monday to Sunday.
